Q: How do I register my CW Character? What are the registration/log sheets in the download section for? A: The CW Character Registration/Log Sheets are used to register your character into the COSWorld Database. When you participate in a CW adventure, you should note on your log sheet any changes that occurred to your character during game play. Then once per year (preferrably at COSCON during the Round Table Seminar) present your log sheet to the COSWorld Organizers for data-entry. When your character's up to date information has been loaded into the CW Database, it is registered with the club.
Once the information is entered into the database, they will initial the lines completed at that time. You may continue to use the same log sheet until it is completely full.
If you fail to annually register your character, your character will cease to rise in level until it has been registered.
Q: How is the CW Database info used? A: The COSWorld Database is used primarily by our writers. In order to keep coming up with adventures that are fun for everyone to play, we need to have accurate information regarding the types of characters that will be participating in it. The CW Database gives us information like average character levels, classes, races and deities followed. All of these details can become vitally important when writing a game scenario.
The CW Database information is also used by the Organizers to track player participation and player trends. Information contained within the database is not shared with the RPGA in any way, shape or form.
Q: Where can I buy the Kysie Guidebook? A: You can purchase bound copies of the Kysie Guidebook at our conventions, or download one from the downloads section.
Revised pages will be made available to those who purchased the bound copies at next year's convention. The download version of the Guidebook will be continually updated as new material is produced.
Q: How do I write sanctioned CW Events? How do I become a CW Writer? A: Follow the instructions for writing CW events listed in the Kysie Guidebook. But essentially, you need to submit your event idea to the CW Organizers and/or Steve Wilbert, for approval. You can either email the proposal to me or snail mail it to the club marked to my attention. Obviously electronic submissions will be handled alot faster than snail mail submissions.
Once your idea is approved, write your adventure! Submit the final copy for sanctioning and you're in! You are a CW Writer!
Q: Can my squire or animal companion get XP for accompanying my character on adventures? A: This is a tricky one. Generally, yes, squires and animal companion & familiars can acquire experience points for accompanying PCs on adventures. But there are instances where this is not permitted. Check with the CW Organizers to be certain.
But in most cases, squires and animal companions accumulate XP at 1/4 the rate of the PC. So if on your latest adventure, your character accumlated 1,000 xp, Jon your young squire would gain 1/4 of your total XP earned, or 250 xp, for himself.
NOTE: Squires begin at 0 level with -1,000 xp. In those first few adventures, any XP gained is subtracted from their negative experience points until the xp is reduced to zero. At that point they become a 1st level squire. They may not participate in any melee until they have reached 1st level. After that, they continue to accumulate xp at 1/4 the rate of their master, but now may at least lend a hand at slaying that dragon!
