The History Of The Realm
Emerging From Below

EMERGING FROM BELOW

Enjoying a few months of peace, the dwarves were able to once again resume contact with the surface realm of Hadran in 614 AL. What they found upon emerging from their mines shocked even the most stoic dwarf. Hadran was destroyed and the Duchy of Allwyn had fallen to ruin. All that could be learned was that King Nestrakum and his court had perished, along with the majority of the populace.

Scouts were deployed to gather what information they could, but the stirrings of the dwarves roused attention to their presence. Hadran, despite centuries of conflict and squabbling, provided a sense of order and structure to the region. Now that it had been destroyed, a void was left where chaos and evil were left to fester and roam free.

Quickly the dwarves were beset upon by many evil and malicious factions that yearned for the riches of the dwarven mines. Unable to learn what lead to the demise of Hadran, the dwarves were forced to rally behind their newly crowned King Hammerfall to defend their home. Yet giants, goblinoids and ogre-kin, small clans of dark dwarves and many other creatures that roamed the mountains soon learned that the dwarves were well prepared to deal with the other disorganized evil inhabitants of the Hammerfall Mountains.

While stability returned to the Duchy of Allwyn and its Baronies, the dwarves expanded their surface presence within the mountains, as small clans established various strongholds and villages to strenghten the dwarven presence within the mountains. Alliances and defense pacts were also formed with the gnomes and halflings living in the eastern ranges and regions of the mountains, as well as trade agreements with the barbarians to the south and the curious Kenku.
