The History Of The Realm
War Erupts

WAR ERUPTS

For nearly four centuries, the dwarves of Tankard stoically held their ground against any who sought to steal their riches while maintaining amicable relations with nearby races. King Bronlor Hammerfall relinquished the throne to his only son, Daragor, before the fires of his spiritforge dwindled.

Under the leadership of King Daragor Hammerfall, who was more of a craftsman and tactician than an overly skilled fighter, the dwarves were able to turn their good standing with their neighbors into a profitable relationship. The artisans of Tankard were even commissioned to create Seals of Birthright for each of the sons of Land Baron Benedict of the Barony of Northgate. This simple act solidified relations between the two races and all but dissolved any resentment still held by the dwarves for the treatment of their ancestors during the days of Hadran. So close did the alliance become that many dwarves mourned the passing of Baron Benedict and his son, Jordan, in 994 AL.

When the stormclouds of war began brewing in the 1004th year of the Age of Light, the dwarves pledged support to Northgate and Baron Aaron in the Third Barony Wars against the Barony of Servosa. Little did the dwarves expect their Kenku allies, motivated by unknown forces, to attack and keep them from aiding Northgate.

Though originally thought to be their affinity to Air, the reason for the Kenku conflict was discovered to be a Banner of Rage, a relic left behind during an attack from an Emporer from another plane and his forces. When the Kenku were freed from the influence of the Banner, reason prevailed and a truce was formed in 1005 AL. The moment of calm, however, was short-lived...

Defeat and Exile...
