During the war with Servosa, the mountainous area now called Eagle's Loft served as an important part of the underground railroad. The near impassable crags and sheer cliff faces of Eagle's Loft made travel difficult - so difficult, it was believed, that Servosan troops would not bother with it.
After devastating losses, what remained of a small force of Kenku took refuge in the mountains. Their numbers and supplies limited, and far from their homes, the few Kenku were far from defeated.
The heights and crags made a very defensible makeshift base of operations. While no passable land route exists through the mountains, the limited flight of the avain race could be put to good use.
The remnant force began to usher escaping slaves and prisoners through the mountain range to safety in the East.
The Acting Kenku Embassador to Northgate, and a former Lord of the Diamond house, Blue Jay was granted the honorary title and small grant of land for the contributions made by his small force during the war.
Eagle's Loft is the smallest Shire in Northgate, both in land area and population. The terrain of rocky precipices and harsh slopes is not hospitable, nor of much use.
The Kenku who still reside there say view of the valley can stretch all the way to the coast on a clear day, but most others would need aid to see that far.
